I decided to not include a brush picture for this review, because my terrible quality camera plus my poor camera taking skills are not going give any justice to what the brush actually looks like.
The brush is made out of a plastic type of material and it is very large. It is about an inch and a quarter long, but the brush is not that thick which I really do appreciate because the product doesn't get everywhere on my eyelids.
I tried to show many angles to truly show what kind of effect this mascara gave to the lashes. Like the last Drugstore Mascara week post, I am going the review by listing the PROS and the CONS.
PROS
1. The Volume: I think Essence was trying to prove the title "extreme" by providing lots of volume! The volume is incredible and I only did one coat of this mascara!
2. Length: This mascara does an average job when it comes to lengthening. It does make my lashes look long, but to be honest, it wasn't to the level of really impressing me. I did experience a better mascara that did better in the lengthening department. But it is good enough.
3. Smudge level: This mascara does not smudge that easily. Towards the end of the day, I did see a little bit of smearing in the inner corners, but that level of smudging is tolerable because you are about to wipe your makeup off by that hour anyways.
4. Price: You can't beat the price! It is only $4.99 at Ulta.
CONS
1. Curl: It wasn't the best when it came to holding my curls. As you can see from my 4th picture from the top, you can barely see any mascara because it weighed my lashes down and made them straight.
2. Clumpy: This is so clumpy. After one coat, I saw my lashes clumping together very fast in six to seven sections so I had to stop after one coat.
3. Chunky: I have never quite experience a chunky mascara like this one (other than the ones that were very old). If you can see from my 3rd and 4th picture, they look little spidery with little beads of mascara forming on the tip of my lashes, which is not a very pretty look.
Overall, i think this is a okay mascara. It is not bad, but it is not great. It does do the basic things that mascara should do such as lengthening, separating, and adding volume, but the chunkiness factor really makes me question if this is an okay mascara after all. However it is a very affordable mascara, so if you are curious about how this will perform on your lashes, you should definitely give it a try!
Best,
SK
