How I erase my makeup! Makeup Removal Routine!

I really think that makeup removal is one of the most important steps in maintaining a plump and youthful skin. Our pores can easily collect dirt and grime after a long gruesome day outside, you definitely want to get rid of all that nastiness, strip your pores with those disgusting bits, and replenish with beneficial oils and nutrients when you get home. Today we will only focus on getting rid of all that gunk. Well, at least how I do it.

This is before I removed my makeup. As you can see I have quite a bit of makeup on my face: mascara, eyebrow, foundation, and blush.

I use olive oil to remove the first layer of makeup, because I feel like it is better or just as good as the wipes sold in drugstores. Olive oil is also known to moisturize your skin deeply without making your skin sensitive. It also removes mascaras and eyeliners VERY well, even the waterproof ones. The majority of the makeup wipes can be very dry and rough on my skin, and it is not very effective when it comes to fully removing the makeup.

First, I get five cotton rounds and run it under water so it'll get completely doused with water. Then I squeeze the extra water out of it by pressing the cotton rounds together.

One by one, I spray about 5 to 8 times with olive oil, which I store in a random spray bottle I found somewhere. Then I fold them in half so the olive oil will be evenly distributed on the cotton round.

As you can see, it removed my mascara quiet well.  I use one cotton round for each eye, one for my forehead, and one for each side of my cheeks.

As you can see, it removed majority of my makeup! However, keep in mind that when you use olive oil to remove makeup, you WILL have oily gross residue kind of feeling on your skin. So you have to wash it off using additional products. I like to do this in two steps: 1. Oil gel cleanser, then 2. Foam cleanser.

1. Oil Gel Cleanser
The one that I am currently using for the oil cleanser is the Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil Gel. Is it weird that a part of a reason why I like this cleanser is because it smells really good and it's pink? I know. Slap me. Other than these two reasons, it is a good cleanser. Like the name, the consistency of this product is a mixture between an oil and a gel. It is not as runny as Mac's cleanse off oil, but it is not as solid as a silicon gel primers. And a little goes a long way with this product! You only need one pump for your entire face.

I don't think it removes all of the residue from only using this cleanser, but it leaves your skin super smooth and soft after using it. This is perhaps because of the Tsubaki oil and the mix of other herbal oil blends that really rehydrates your skin while cleansing your skin (?). I know this doesn't make sense. Some bloggers even said the oil blend in this cleanser is useless because it's a cleanser. I do agree with those negative comments to a certain degree, but then again it really makes my skin smooth and soft after washing my face with it. So I guess the logical understanding of this product is kind of irrelevant. Hey it works okay?

This product is ideal for the mornings or the days when you don't have any makeup on. It doesn't clean your face super clean, but leaves you feeling fresh yet supple at the same time. So, it is perfect for dry skin types and for the dry cooler months.

2. Foam Cleanser
Now, when I use this cleansing oil after removing my makeup with olive oil, I still have that oily residue on my skin from the olive oil. So to completely remove EVERYTHING on my face, I use Mamonde Triple Multi Foam Cleansing. You can find this easily from Amazon, Ebay, or G market.

*Now, you might be wondering why I use the Boscia cleansing oil at all if I am going to use the cleansing foam. I use the the cleansing oil to get that skincare benefits from the Tsubaki oil. I realized that if I only use the cleansing foam, it leaves my skin with a weird texture and very parched. So adding this step in between prevents my skin from being too dry and stripped.*

This foam cleanser is one of the better ones I have tried from a Korean brand. The consistency of this product is super dense and thick. This lathers up to a very rich and concentrated foam that really gets rid of all the gunk from your skin. It leaves a very squeeky (literally) clean feeling on your skin, which might not be favored by many people. It promises to remove your makeup, sunscreen (?), and to exfoliate your skin. It has a tiny beads that gently exfoliate your skin, but don't worry! It is not as abrasive as your exfoliators, so it doesn't make your skin feel raw and sensitive afterwards.

From my experience with this cleanser, it is perfect as a replacement of my exfoliating cleanser because it's a lot more gentle than the gritty textured exfoliators but gets the job done. However, when I tried using this as my daily cleanser, it broke me out slightly and made my skin feel dry and tight. If you have dry sensitive skin, I would not recommend this as your daily cleanser. But if you are oily and not as sensitive, go for it!

THIS WAS REALLY LONG!

TO SUMMARIZE:
1. Olive oil pads to remove my makeup.
2. Boscia Cleansing oil gel
3. Mamonde Triple Multi Foam Cleansing (?). Koreans really need to straighten up their English.

ANYWAY THAT IS IT.
I hope you enjoyed it. And remember, wash yo face!

Best,
SK
