Since the emergence of Cushion Foundations, the beauty bloggers online have moved on from talking about standard Korean BB cream type products. This particular product, Hera CC Cream, is not as talked about amongst the Korean beauty bloggers, but the ones they do say that this is a commendable product.
Hera can be considered to be the creme de la creme of the Korean cosmetic industry (along with sulwhasoo). Many Korean actresses rave about Hera products for a reason. I am quite new to the brand compared to some of the other Korean brands that I have tried such as Innisfree or Laneige, but from the first impressions I can tell that these are high quality products that are worth their high price point.
This CC Cream is one of those worthy of high price point items. It is priced around $40 for this small-ish tube, which is certainly not cheap for a lot of people including me...However... I absolutely love this product and the way it works with my skin!
Coverage: This has about medium coverage. It has a thick consistency that really helps in covering up blemishes and darkness. I was at first really surprised to see a BB/CC cream type of a product to have this heavy coverage! It is able to cover my dark hyperpigmentations, red spots, and even my dark circles.
(Before)
Finish: You would expect this to have that greasy as mofo dewy finish that Korean ladies love. I do like that kind of look sometimes when doing certain looks, but majority of the time that dewy look is definitely not practical for everyday wear and is uncomfortable since it can be super sticky and greasy. However, this one doesn't which was another surprise! It has a very flattering satin to natural finish that is perfect for the warmer months. Also, it doesn't feel like you are wearing anything since it is very lightweight and leaves a soft non-sticky feeling to the touch.
(After 6 hours of wear in 80 something degrees weather)
Longevity/Wear time: Longevity is long my friends (for a BB/CC cream product of course). The thick consistency of this product really adheres to the skin which results in a long wear time. I would say...this lasts about 9 hours on my skin which is quite amazing for a something that doesn't claim longwear. Granted I do have dry-normal skin, but still... 9 hours? That's amazing for a CC Cream don't you think? And of course if you have super oily skin, the wear time would be less and you would look oilier faster, but I think it's still impressive for a CC cream.
Skincare Benefits: Like the BB Cream, this is suppose to improve your skin conditions overtime and I truly believe that aspect about this product. This claims to brighten and moisturize your skin as well as reducing the look of fine lines. I don't know about brightening and fine lines since I've only used this for about a month, but I know for a fact that it doesn't clog my pores at ALL. I realized that Laneige BB Cushions sort of create little tiny whiteheads around my face whenever I would wear it for long periods of time, but when using this CC Cream it makes my skin smooth without the whiteheads. It also does moisturize your skin since it doesn't cling onto your dry patches or make your skin super tight.
This also has an SPF of 35 PA++ which is something I really appreciate in base products.
1) Color range: It only has three colors- pale, less pale, and light basically. Number 17/Pink Beige is the fairest, cool toned fair skin perhaps; Number 21/ Natural Beige, which is what I am using; Number 23/True Beige is the darkest. I probably could have gotten #23, but I didn't since I always use a color that is a shade lighter than my own. However, this CC cream colors come very pale. I really have to bronze the perimeters of my face well to wear this CC Cream.
Anyways, obviously this is made for Asian skin tones, so not many ethnicities would be able to use this product.
2) Blendability: During the initial application, it tends to stick and cling to your skin making it hard for you to blend the product out. You also have to work fast when applying this cream since it sets quite fast. What I found was that instead of using hands or a brush, a damp sponge products such as a beautyblender works best in blending this out on the skin seamlessly. But, even with the beautyblender you have to work in the cream for quite awhile for it to fully blend into the skin.
Little Details that Excite Me:
1) Scent: I hate that MAC foundation smell... Do you feel me on this? Estee Lauder foundations also smell like this. This one however has a light floral scent that you can find in a standard moisturizer which is lovely and a nice touch.
2) Pump: Do I need to say more? It's so easy to travel with and is not messy!
IN CONCLUSION
Save some money and get it if you can find your shade. I love love love this and would definitely repurchase it.
